DESCRIPTION:
Todos Santos is the epitome of the contrasting beauty of Baja, an oasis in more ways than one.
It is an enchanting town; known in Mexico as 'Puebla Magica' (the magical town). It is far from the crowds; a place where it feels like time ceases to exist. The whole atmosphere is one of peaceful relaxation. You'll find yourself walking at a very leisurely pace, just letting your eyes drink in the laid-back sights and sounds of this special town.
Todos Santos is known for its thriving cultural and arts scene, where many artists live in great creativity. Todos Santos has a regional blend of contemporary and Mexican rustic art. There are a lot of galleries. At the higher end of the market, these cater for collectors wishing to purchase an investment. However, those wishing to take home artwork on a lesser budget will find plenty to peruse as well. Or just look! Because so many artists live locally, it's not unusual to find yourself appreciating a painting, only to discover the artist standing right next to you.
Stroll along the streets of Todos Santos, with its lovely old buildings. These include the Mission, established in 1733, the cultural house that contains items that illustrate the History of Peninsula. This isn't a town crammed with familiar stores from back home. It's a taste of Mexico, with cosy restaurants, handicraft shops, bookstores and many other discoveries. However, it's growing fast. It might be worth visiting it before the mass market of tourists find out about it.
The town is also the home of Hotel California, built in 1928. It was Don Henley’s inspiration for the famous Eagles song of the same name.
