Shopping in Cozumel
Cozumel shopping really is a delight for visitors.Visit the various stores in this duty-free port where you will find, besides the de rigueur T-shirt, a great variety of silver items, trendy perfumes, name-brand clothes, jewelry, local, regional and foreign handicrafts, liqueurs, and much more at lower prices than other places in Mexico.

Most shops are located on the lively Rafael Melgar Avenue but one or two blocks inland there are still many things to see and better bargains. There are as many souvenir shops in Cozumel as there are dive shops.

It is worthwhile to take a stroll through the handicraft market in front of the main Plaza but if what you want to buy is produce it is better to shop where Cozumelenos shop. The Municipal Market offers everything from fresh fish and meat to shoe repair. This is just some Cozumel shopping advice

Best buys in Cozumel are hammocks, leather goods, and jewelry featuring silver, semiprecious stones, and local black coral. Some tips for buying black coral: what is sold on the streets is probably plastic.Black Coral is an endangered species protected by law. Its extraction and trade are regulated and chances are that only established businesses have permission to sell it.

Most representative of Cozumel shopping, this was the first mall here.It is right in front of the Punta Langosta pier downtown. Here you find all kinds of restaurants, bars, and stores there. This is an obligatory stop for any visitor to the island.

This store features an awesome selection of handicrafts and liquors. Prices are fixed and they are among the highest on the island.Furniture and original pieces of art are for sale here.

As the name indicates, this store specializes in unique, high-quality pieces of terracotta decorated with this Mexican technique, famous worldwide. This store deserves a visit for sure.

After visiting the interesting Mexican Indigenous Music Museum, a very special memento can be bought in its store that constitutes another museum itself.Besides instruments, there are elements used in the folkloric dances and indigenous music CDs.The store also offers ancient instrument restoration services.
